Today it is hard to imagine life without a cell phone. We can all think back on the original Star Trek series, and remember how cool it was for Captain Kirk to be communicating with his space ship personnel through a tiny flip top device held in his hand. That was a long time ago, and in the real world the cell phone has, indeed, experienced tremendous growth. The pace of growth is such that we use 1G, 2G, 3G, and now 4G terminology to describe the most up to date technology that is driving the new devices.
